Tonkin + Taylor was selected by Ara Poutama Aotearoa Department of Corrections (DoC) to deliver three workstreams:
- A Sustainability Management Plan (SMP)
- An Emissions Reduction Plan (ERP)
- A Climate change risk assessment.
The SMP was developed based on a ‘materiality assessment’, which identified biodiversity as a ‘topic’ for the DoC. As a result, biodiversity was selected as one of the focus areas in the SMP and targets and actions were identified as part of this work.
The ERP workstream included the development of an ERP and Decarbonisation Options Analysis Tool to help DoC compare different emissions reduction initiatives concerning their GHG emissions reduction impact. It visually shows how emissions are tracked against business-as-usual (BAU) emissions, the emissions reduction and 1.5-degree pathways. It allows the export of all data for further processing.
Tonkin + Taylor is delivering the project in close collaboration with key staff from Ara Poutama Aotearoa Department of Corrections.
